New Hampshire parents may go into the divorce process hoping to find a workable parenting plan that everyone can agree on. While that is always the goal, it unfortunately is not always how things work out. In some situations, parents may not agree on what is in the best interest of the child. In other circumstances, the child may be old enough to have some say in where he or she lives as well. These are all issues that need to be taken into consider when a parenting plan is put together.
Our readers may have heard about the ongoing child custody battle that singer Madonna is in with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie. The two are fighting over the custody arrangement of their 15-year-old son Rocco.
Although Rocco was supposed to be living with his mother in New York, he apparently wanted to stay with his father in London after visiting him in December of last year.
The issue is being heard in a New York court as well as in a London court. Recently a judge in London put a halt to the United Kingdom proceedings saying it was pointless and costly to have the issue heard in two different courts.
He urges the parents to stop fighting over the issue and to find an amicable solution so they can both enjoy being with their son. Parents can definitely understand the situation these two are in and can likely imagine that it would be that much harder to have a child custody dispute that involves homes in two different countries. The hope is that parents can come together and make a decision that is in the best interests of their child.
