When parents in New Hampshire end their romantic relationship, it is sometimes difficult for them to agree on what is in their child's best interest. Negotiations regarding a divorce and child custody can be even more difficult when the couple is in the public spotlight. Fortunately, actress Morena Baccarin and her ex-husband were recently able to come to an agreement regarding the custody of their son.
The couple married in Nov. 2011 but separated in June 2015. While the parents were granted joint custody in 2015, it was determined that the child would with spend most of his time with Baccarin. In fact, she and the boy moved across the country where her show was being filmed.
According to reports, the boy's father has recently decided to move to New York as well. Additionally, he will receive $3,500 a month in child support until the child turns 18 in addition to $5,000 per month in spousal support until Dec. 2018. He will additionally be paid an equalizing payment of $406,000. The couple also agreed to split residuals from several of her works.
When a relationship ends, couples in New Hampshire and across the country -- regardless of their level of celebrity -- are forced to make difficult decisions and, often, agree to certain compromises. While divorce and the child custody decisions that must follow are often portrayed as always being contentious, this does not have to be the case. Some couples are able to peacefully come to an agreement regarding the end of their marriage, making it easier for them to continue co-parenting their children.
