Need a doctor? Or perhaps a divorce attorney? Hip-Hop legend Dr. Dre has found himself in need of the later since separating from his wife of 24 years, Nicole Young.
The divorce has been contentious with each party staking out claims to the music moguls business empire.
Currently, a battle is raging over the validity of the couple’s prenup. Ms. Young claims that she was pressured into signing the agreement and that Dre later ripped it apart. The rapper disputes these claims and has moved for a court hearing to determine the validity of the document.
“Andre acknowledged to me that he felt ashamed he had pressured me into signing a premarital agreement and he tore up multiple copies of the agreement in front of me. Since the day he tore up the agreements, we both understood that there was no premarital agreement, and that it was null and void,’ Ms. Young’s documents read.
The couple have been married since 1996. Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, is being represented by high-profile divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who is also representing Kim Kardashian in her divorce from Kanye West.
Ensure your wealth is protected
Navigating the divorce process is tricky; the law can be vague and ambiguous in critical areas. Furthermore, a seemingly insignificant procedural mistake early on can have drastic consequences that are difficult to undo.
For these reasons, it’s critical to have an experienced divorce lawyer by your side from the initial filings until the decree absolute is granted. If cost is a concern, many lawyers offer a free initial consultation and no out of cost to the client.
